Job Description

Job overview

Writing and editing interface and procedural documentation including user guides, installation guides, quick reference guides, release notes, system configuration guides, help files, API guides, technical manuals, installation manuals, operation and maintenance manuals, online help, brochures, process instruction manuals, marketing material, product spec sheets, fyers and other sales material

Single-sourcing and structured authoring including DITA structuring and database publishing

Graphic, illustration, print-page and web design skills

Conceptualize, research, design, develop material for new products

Leading projects as lead-writer and supervising one or more junior and senior writers

Advanced print and online documentation project localization skills

Create and maintain project plans and status reports for management and cross functional team reporting purposes

Ability to comprehend engineering or technical  terminology and translate that into simple, clear and concise content with correct English & Grammar

Collaborates with subject matter experts to determine necessary content updates.

Obtains collaborative approval of all new or revised content by subject matter experts , key contributors to cross-functional teams and client.

Provides expertise to cross-functional team members and subject matter experts, and for design and delivery strategies of product documentation.

Collaborates with other technical writers in peer and copy editing to ensure quality

Provides expertise for  documentation or content  projects and assists in documentation design and delivery strategies for new processes, product or services offerings

Researching and verifying information on the content

Gathers requirements from customer representatives and delivers documentation that meets defined requirements and warrants product functionality

Maintains an open line of communication with customer representatives and adapts content to best meet customer needs

Determines documentation enhancements that will assist customers and reduce support calls

Completes assigned work within allotted time

Defines and implements training plans for team members to continuously grow their skill set

Coaches and mentors team members to ensure their highest levels of achievement

Actively contributes towards improvement of processes and procedures, and any research of products and processes required to increase the department skill set

Should be flexible to work based on client working hours

Experience and skills

6-8  years of experience in technical/ content writing role with a variety of writing styles: technical, creative, marketing, etc.

Prior experience in managing teams of technical writers and content writers

Prior experience in managing technical writers and projects

Must possess excellent writing and project management skills

Must be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively

Must have independently executed and managed the projects

Microsoft Office Suite

FrameMaker (Unstructured and Structured)

Version control software (MS Source Safe, etc.)

Optional: Advanced version and content management software (Agile, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:-

Graduate . MBA or Masters preferred.
