Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions
Perform a variety of technical duties that include:
Configuring, maintaining and supporting vSphere and ESXi, integrating them appropriately
Other related tools and virtualization technologies may be in scope
Coordinating Incident Management activities
Provide Tier III/other support, assist with troubleshooting, Investigating and completion of Help Desk Ticket issues.
Maintain Wiki pages, documenting procedures, Knowledge Base Instructions (KBI), operational, configuration, or other procedures.
Document all support in Remedy ticketing system to meet service level agreements
Install new/rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
Contribute to and maintain system standards.
Recommend, innovative and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks.
Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.
Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.
Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis based on recommendation from the Information Security Officer, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities.
Configure/add new services as necessary.
Upgrade and configure system software that supports infrastructure applications or Asset Management applications per project or operational needs.
Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.
3 years of installing, configuring, and maintain VMware systems
3 years of installing, configuring, and maintain Windows and /or UNIX
Support large-scale computer systems in a Data Center Environment is a plus
Must possess strong interpersonal and communications skills.
Must be able to relate to a diverse group of people including technical and development personnel, management, business customers, and vendors in a constructive and effective manner.
Must have a solid technical background coupled with desire and ability to grasp skills quickly, combined with deep attention to detail along with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Project and work flow management skills.
