KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Respond to permissions requirements for Global Education, as assigned by Permission Managers in the UK, South Africa and Australia.
Work with CLS Design and Permissions Team Manager and Branch colleagues to ensure permission clearance resource is in place to meet delivery of permission requirements for long-term publishing plans.
While establishing and applying Education specific requirements, work with the other IOC Permissions Managers to define and manage processes for permissions clearance and asset research carried out for Cambridge University Press products and provide appropriate documentation guidelines, workflow documents, etc.
Manage allocation of permissions projects within team, ensuring that resource is appropriately assigned to meet schedule requirements.
Recruit, train and mentor new Permissions staff in India and ensuring training is carried out in line with the Press IP policy and training programme.
Ensure that all third-party rights and descriptive metadata are captured in line with defined processes to enable future repurposing of content.
Ensure that Permissions team obtain and record the permissions clearance of third-party assets such as illustration, photo, text, music, video and song lyrics etc.
Ensure that Permission controllers maintain accurate files and database of all rights required/ obtained and the project files are archived correctly in CAMS and in the rights archive.
Ensure that permission controllers track permissions budgets for each project and rise POs in SAP for payment of permission fee for re-use of assets and keep expenditure to minimum.
Carry our permissions clearance projects as required, in addition to the management of the team.
Abide by all Press policies and procedures including Code of ethics, anti-bribery and corruption, Health and Safety, e-mail and Internet use and standards of behavior.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE / PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:
Degree/ PG in English/ Publishing/ Journalism/ Mass Communication with 5+ year experience in third-party rights clearance.
Ability to lead a team, manage competing work streams with challenging deadlines.
Highly organized with strength to perform under pressure, prioritize work and resolve queries.
Effective communicator with strength to build working relationships with colleagues and external companies.
