Prepare Engineering Design Specifications for Fired Heaters in new and revamp unit designs. Assist process engineers in optimising pressure drop and number of passes. Select burner type. Develop convection section duty including auxiliary duties such as steam generation, hot oil and air preheat.
In some specialised services specify the layout of heater coils and burners.
Select metallurgy for Fired Heater coils and associated items based on process conditions, fuel characteristics and process knowledge. >Perform rating calculations for fired heaters in revamp services based on heat and weight balance information and fluid properties supplied by process engineer. Assist process engineer to optimize revamp designs.
Lead and coordinate the Heat Transfer design for a heat-integrated complex - providing optimum solution to customer.
Prepare Engineering Design Specifications for Heat Exchangers and Air Coolers in new unit designs. Apply knowledge of exchanger types and application in refinery / petrochemical processes. >Review of Manufacturer Drawings for Fired Heaters and some specialised heat exchangers for compliance with specifications.
Apply advanced knowledge of heater and heat exchange industry guidelines (API, TEMA).
Apply advanced knowledge of fired heater, heat exchanger, and air cooler thermal design software programs (HTRI, FRNC-5, various proprietary programs)
Give technical support to consulting services by giving advice on heat transfer issues, liaising with continuing services engineers and by conducting heater assessments onsite.
