ACTIVITIES AND TASKS
The Senior Specialist - Capacity Building (Water & Sanitation) will be expected to:
Achieve programme objectives such as learner reach, net revenue and training impact for the portion of the UPP portfolio that they will manage and be responsible for.
Anchor programme development, project management, capacity needs assessment and delivery of capacity building programmes for National Missions with a key focus on AMRUT.
Manage the support team for content development and the outreach team for networking with a host of sectoral experts/guest faculty, and lead them towards achieving the objectives mentioned above.
Coordinate with other support teams in the Institute to work towards creating best in class learning experiences for the learners.
Teach in capacity building programmes for Urban Missions by using sectoral expertise along with a variety of pedagogical approaches (case studies, field visits, peer-led discussions, problem based learning, flipped classrooms etc.) based on Mission requirements.
Contribute to the cross-learning that UPP can bring about for the Research and Practice teams at IIHS. Undertake research and write on subject areas as required.
Coach team members and make them successful in their assigned tasks.
Frequently travel for training and capacity building assignments as and when required.
Provide support to other IIHS functions, including academics, research and operations.
Participate in all activities of Institution-building at IIHS; carry out tasks as assigned by IIHS; and travel on IIHS work within or outside the country as needed.
STRUCTURE AND REPORTING
This position reports to the Head of the Urban Practitioners Programme. Additionally, the position involves collaborating effectively with a diverse group of individuals and personalities including a team of senior and junior specialists in capacity building, internal and external faculty, support staff and UPP interns.
The candidate is required to possess an advanced masters or doctoral degree in Environmental/ Civil Engineering and/or Urban Planning or related disciplines with at least 10 years of relevant work experience. Prior experience in teaching, training or capacity building is mandatory.
The candidate should have a demonstrable track record of capacity building programmes with content development and delivery experience. Candidates are expected to have work experience and understanding of water supply, sanitation and storm water drainage systems. She or he should also have experience of: -
working in multi-disciplinary teams,
good people management skills,
significant competency in project management
instructional design & facilitation and
Language skills in English and Hindi are desirable. Candidates with knowledge of a third regional language for communication shall be accorded preference.
