Job Description

The position is a member of the Global Accounting and Control ("GAC") team under the direction of the Head of Global Accounting and Control. The GAC team has a various responsibilities including consolidating and reporting BCG's financial information on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. In addition, GAC is responsible for establishing and communicating various accounting policies and procedures. The team is responsible for the dissemination of meaningful and accurate financial information on a consolidated basis, as well as on an individual affiliate office basis. The position is leadership role within the new Intercompany Accounting Operations ("Intercompany") team within GAC, launching in September of 2015. The position is responsible for the oversight of BCG's complex intercompany system. This includes the invoicing process as well as understanding the impact of transactions on management, statutory and tax reporting. A key component of the role includes facilitating annual service agreements between various BCG businesses and shared service centers. The position is built around teamwork and will require the candidate to manage a team of three plus individuals. The Intercompany team is responsible for the execution of intercompany transactions including invoicing and the related accounting for these transactions. The team is also responsible for maintaining the integrity of intercompany processes throughout BCG and refining these processes when necessary. The team maintains responsibility for performing allocation calculations and instituting replicable processes. The team is an integral provider of documentation and back up support required for tax audits that may occur in any jurisdiction.
The candidate will be a critical resource for financial controllers in BCG offices globally. He/she will be responsible for the maintenance of intercompany policies and procedures, interpretation of issues that arise and ensuring that proper internal controls over intercompany processes are in place and operating effectively. In addition, the candidate will perform regular reviews of policies, procedures and internal controls in order to ensure continuous improvement. The candidate will have extensive contact with key stakeholders who include Global Finance, Tax, Treasury and GAC. The candidate is required to work collaboratively with these stakeholders in order to successfully operate BCG's intercompany system.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure the integrity of the intercompany accounting processes is maintained throughout BCG globally
Ensure that internal controls over financial reporting related to intercompany processes are in place and operating effectively
Work with other colleagues, including the Risk team and the Global Field Operations team, to design and implement processes to monitor compliance with intercompany policies and procedures
Lead a team that is responsible for the performance of monthly calculations for inter unit charges, raising invoices, recording journal entries and performing reconciliations
Coordinate the annual budget processes to determine the baseline models for hosted staff, and the periodic recalculations according to the intercompany pricing guidelines; facilitating the service level agreements between business units and global, regional and local service providers including Knowledge units, Digital Ventures, Platinion, and other alternative businesses as they are identified
Coordinate with Treasury to ensure effective intercompany cash and foreign exchange management; accurate interest calculations and settlements; and the requirements for withholding taxes have been achieved
Coordinate with Tax and local offices to provide documentation, back-up support and analysis for tax audits and transfer pricing defense as needed
Continue to seek opportunities to streamline and automate processes
Identify, develop and deliver policy documentation and communication as needed, within and across BCG functions to address gaps and enhance inter unit activity globally
Communicate and collaborate routinely with finance colleagues at the local and regional levels, the global functions team, the field operations team and the GAC team to share best practices and keep them abreast of firm initiatives that impact global finance and intercompany processes
Incorporate new activities and shared services into the intercompany pricing framework once approvals have been obtained, ensuring intercompany processes and procedures are adhered to
Work closely with the Global Consolidation and Reporting, Functional Finance, Practice Area and Knowledge teams to ensure the appropriate ongoing integration of information and the communication of inter unit shared service charges, policies, practices and guidelines.
Partner with team, to identify opportunities for process improvements and streamlining of existing activities (if any)
Make recommendations on improvements and take ownership for project plan development, execution and implementation
Develop a strong governance model that would help in enhancing the quality and effectiveness of reporting

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

12+ years of accounting - related work experience, including US GAAP accounting, management and financial reporting, knowledge of the US and international tax systems including an understanding of transfer pricing principles
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required,
CPA/Chartered Accountant status required, MBA is a plus
5+ years of management experience at a large multinational company required
Previous experience working within a professional services firm in a business partnership role is a plus
Previous experience working in a public accounting firm is a plus
Previous experience working within a multi- currency environment, where foreign operations represent a significant portion of consolidated results
Sound analytical and reporting skills; ability to understand complicated topics, apply critical thinking, apply judgment and make decisions
Good management judgment, flexibility, and ability to manage multiple priorities
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; comfortable interacting with peer group and senior leadership
Advanced computer literacy (use of Windows and corresponding software applications including PowerPoint, Excel and Word)
Systems experience is a plus: Hyperion Financial Management (HFM), Oracle 12R, Oracle Smart View, Oracle Financials, Business Objects or other comparable systems
Travel will be required approximately 30 - 35% during the first 12 months of employment, approximately 10% thereafter
