This position will provide technical sales support to PT&E Sales Account Managers and UOP customers in the assigned product lines. The Technology Manager works closely with other functions in PT&E, R&D and ES&E to ensure that effective proposals and project support are provided.
Accountabilities of this position include:
Being the technology specialist for the product line to coordinate all support needed for each assigned project.
Prepare and maintain customer support material to be used by sales, including technology presentations and proposal templates.
Author technical and marketing papers and conduct presentations at industry conferences and client events to actively promote UOP technology.
Participate with Sales in client prospecting to promote proactive client relationship building and obtain valuable voice of customer input for the business.
Coordinate with Sales on how to respond to client requests with appropriate response that meets customer requirements through the various stages of the sales process.
Identify pull-through opportunities from projects being developed. Ensure equipment sales are positioned effectively during the preliminary proposal stage.
Participate in the development of project specific sales and guarantee strategies for projects.
Develop technically innovative process solutions to sales opportunities both for revamps & new units, with appropriate risk consideration.
Write/coordinate technical proposals for single and multi-unit complexes for both revamps and new units.
Work with Sales to develop technical proposals, presentations, ITB review, technical support, guarantee calculation and preliminary pricing sheets.
Ensure yield estimates, PEDS, utilities, mass balances, cost estimates are prepared to deliver effective sales proposals
Prepare initial and subsequent draft sections of the engineering and guarantee agreements.
Take the lead technical role at customer meetings for bid clarifications, technology updates, technical proposal review and general positioning of respective technologies.
Coordinate engineering and equipment proposal support via the liaison positions.
Work with ES&E, particularly Equipment Sales Support, to coordinate effective delivery of ES&E based sections of the proposals (establish links to Service and Equipment sales support which remain in their respective Service and Equipment groups)
Participate as an active member of Technology Delivery teams to better facilitate new product development and market launch.
Facilitate the transition of projects from sales to engineering through the process design phase and participate in kickoff meeting.
Provide competitive feedback from individual projects to Sales Support Manager and Product Line Manager
Seek prioritization of projects from management when unable to meet all commitments.
Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering
8 years experience in the field of Refining, Petrochemicals or Gas Processing (inside or outside of UOP).
Good interpersonal and presentation skills.
Strong technical understanding of assigned technologies / product line.
A demonstrated ability to interface effectively with external customers as well as with internal Engineering, R&D, Sales, and Technical Service groups.
Ability to understand and apply business considerations to project support.
