Job Description

JOB SUMMARY Regional Merchandising Manager will lead all Staples categories in her respective region in the areas of merchandising and procurement department to develop an aggressively growing business. Drive sales through program development, branding, product mix, promotions, private and national label programs, special buys and member relationship management. Must maintain proven results in buying and/ or merchandising and have the vision to create future programs for our success. Responsible for P & L of the vertical. Assist Business Manager in developing and implementing programs and policies designed to increase sales and profits of departments and achieve planned results. PURPOSE OF POSITION Categories Management Sales and Profit, responsible for category s business top line and bottom line. Working Capital Management Key Account Management Strategic sourcing Promotion Strategy Identification of sources of margin and opportunities Market Analysis, Consumption Analysis Value Chain Analysis Optimising Cost TOT Negotiation. Adherence to norms and SOPs Assets Handling Strategic Sourcing with special focus on local sourcing. Category assortment and Promotion Strategy (development and execution). Key Vendor Relationship Management. NATURE OF ROLE Facilitate and guide the regional category managers SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES / DELIVERABLES FINANCIAL Sales and gross profits thru sale items mix, shelf space utilization and customer demographics Shrink control/ analysis RGM (Rupee Gross Margin)/ Margin % GMROI (Gross Margin Return on Investment) on asset deployed Credit Days and Accounts Receivable Budgets CUSTOMER Decide on the promotional schemes to enhance footfall Customer Reach (Bill penetration / ABV) Regular availability of core assortment Promotion Calendar/ Seasonal Offers Review weekly prices, communicate price list to category managers and Follow up to insure implementation. INTERNAL BUSINESS PROCESSES Plan and implement strategies for layout and customer traffic flow (per square feet of the allotted space) so as to maximize sales, customer satisfaction, appearance, image and brand Food safety/ QA best practices and procedures. Check monthly inventories sent in by category managers. Co-operate and co-ordinate with other merchandising teams and the marketing team Seek new merchandising categories, trends and products Approve all assortment plans and Ensure a good product mix CRM ( Category Role Matrix) and Category Role Definition Competitive Benchmarking Category Promotion Planning and Fill Rates LEARNING AND GROWTH Research and analyze the current market trends and decide on the best products and categories Identify opportunities and train employees to improve service and operating performance. Coach employees to continuously improve job performance Identify potential successors and assist in the training and development of those employees.
