Must have Openstac/ Cloudstack / Telco Cloud experience with KVM,Vmvare
Sound understanding of x86 based HW virtualization:
Understating of HW specs (CPU, Memory, Storage and Networking),
SR-IOV, Various Form factors (eg. Chassis based, Blade Servers) & power requirements.
Sound understanding of Hypervisors:
Hypervisors (KVM, VMware), Understating of Software & Hardware virtualization techniques, Understating of the performance management and benchmarking of virtualized environment would be an added advantage
Sound understanding of SDN/NFV ecosystem (hands-on) Cloud stack (OpenStack, etc) & Fair knowledge on SDN controllers (tail-f, OpenDaylight, contrail etc) is an added advantage
Sound understanding & hands-on on Linux or (Unix-like) OS including troubleshooting/debugging, testing, Hypervisors (KVM, VMware), Linux virtualization
Sound understanding of Network Technologies & Virtualization:
Fair Understanding on Network Virtualization, Understanding of NFV requirements for cloud-oriented deployments - (Intel DPDK based accelerations, large tables, CPU pinning's etc), understanding on ETSI standards on NFV.Telco Data center , Network deployment topology for access, edge and core data network, would be an added advantage.
Good understanding about IaaS, SaaS, Managed Services would be an added advantage
Some desirables to look in the candidates for interviews.
1. Understanding dataplane acceleration techniques for VNF using SRIOV and DPDK.
2. Configuring SRIOV Virtual Functions on VMware and KVM and exposing techniques to VNFs
3. Compiling and configuring DPDK libraries, drivers and using them with DPDK aware applications (Open vSwitch etc.)
