The Manager (Gender & Development) will be responsible for developing a portfolio of projects related to gender & development within the Social Sector Advisory Practice reporting into the Executive Director (Social Sector). The key focus areas for the Manager (Gender & Development) will include cut across various areas of womens empowerment including social, economic and political, as well as broader gender related themes such as health care, access to justice and other services, violence, education and skills development. The key responsibilities will include the following -
1. Business Development responsible for winning business (based on annual targets set) and developing a sustainable pipeline with a focus on the areas identified above. The Manager is required to develop and drive strong working relationship with target clients, which will include, inter alia, all the major donor agencies (such as UN Women and other UN Agencies, DFID, World Bank, EU and others), MWCD and associated agencies, state WCD Departments, NGOs and Foundations.
2. Practice Management mentoring consultants, supporting practice management activities (including operational activities), including management of staff utilisation, debtors management and adhering to all internal management reporting requirements, representing the group in all network activities and forums related to gender & development.
3. Project management/execution responsible for client delivery on projects, providing technical inputs on projects, project revenues (based on agreed targets), and supporting the individual project managers in managing projects.
Thought leadership representing the firm in internal and external outreach activities, increasing visibility of the company's sector capabilities through participation in/engagement with forums, writing and publishing though leadership pieces.
