What we are looking for : Lead Performance Engineer Responsibilities: Coordination / Requirement Gathering (NFRs) with track (PG, BC, etc.) stake holders to understand their PE requirements and educating them if needed. Designing PT strategy/plan as per the requirements/agreement with the Track owners. Continuous follow up with Vendors and other stakeholders for delivery. Closely working with vendor team members in identifying performance issues for each track and providing solution. Should be able to extrapolate Performance testing results from controlled environment and provide Prod capacity sizing. Preferably from a Java & DB development background who has played lead/architect role in past. PE environment ownership which may require the person to be part of or perform himself the following. Infra sizing--> Do it himself in some cases. Port Openings / LB Config--> Raise it himself or sometimes just be approver OS / DB User creations / password change--> Do it himself or sometimes just be approver OS / DB / MW patching--> Approvals, making slots available, etc. Participate / Contribute in ARB from PE perspective. Work with Ops / App Support / Dev teams in resolving Production Performance Issues. To be able to prepare / present / articulate PE reports/decks to stakeholders (CXO's to Track Owners to Ops) Project Management (planning, resourcing, WO / SoW management, timesheets / RDF's, etc.) Technical Competence: Deep understanding of Performance Testing & Performance Engineering principles, methodologies, tools, ( Tsung, Gatling, JMeter ), etc. Oracle / MS-SQL / MySQL databases . Dev / Design & Tuning / Monitoring (AWR, ASH, ADDM, TkProf, etc.). *nix OS (Shell Programming / Scripting, Tuning / Monitoring) using tools like tcpdumps, Wireshark, netstat, vmstat, iostat, top, sar, etc. JVM Tuning , Monitoring , Thread & Heap dump analysis . Proficiency in using tools like J VisualVM , JConsole , JFR , MAT , etc. Nginx , Apache HTTP server . Reactive programming / frameworks / Principles (Play / Akka) Caching solutions / strategies ( Redis, Infinispan, Hazelcast, etc. ) Network protocols ( TCP/IP, HTTP ) Other Skills: This requires significant technical deep dive and depth about the platform/tech stack to be able to understand and forecast performance and scalability problems. Multitasking, should be able to work on 4-5 tracks simultaneously.
