Job Description

Required Position: 1 for North & West expansion based at Mumbai
and 1 for South/East expansion based at Chennai
Objective: Lead and direct Strategic planning/execution for logistics business expansion with Government Contracts involving coal / infrastructure related projects.
Direct, manage and coordinate logistics, transportation, supply chain, marketing and customer service activities.
Qualification: Any Degree
Experience: Minimum 20 years of experience in Logistics/supply chain function in the local/regional markets. Fleet Management
Preference: Well verse in tendering & bidding, Government contracts – specifically coal import & Coal logistics & Infrastructure related projects; localite with strong networking/PR skills and local market knowledge
Knowledge Req.: Tendering & Bidding, Logistics operations, understanding of the whole supply chain to effectively co-ordinate and liaise with government officials, suppliers of raw materials, manufacturers, retailers and consumers. Multi – model Logistics Business Development & Operations
Reporting to: Managing Director

Roles and Responsibilities
Tendering and bidding for government contracts. Execution of contracts specific to coal logistics to government, electricity boards and companies.
Liaison with Government, companies, power plants, electricity boards etc.
Lead the entire Coal Logistics / import and attain the business expansion targets with smooth operations.
Developing business by gaining new contracts/networks, analyzing logistic challenges and executing or getting new contracts
Monitor operations by initiating, coordinating fleet management
Develop methods and procedures for scheduling of movement from suppliers to destination
Ensure compliance with laws and regulations regarding transportation or legal issues pertaining to transportation
Motivate, organize and encourage teamwork for superior results
Monitoring the quality, quantity, cost and efficiency of the movement and storage of goods
Coordinating and controlling the order cycle and associated information systems;
Analysing data to monitor performance and plan improvements and demand;
Allocating and managing resources (fleet, manpower ) according to changing needs;
Liaising and negotiating with customers and suppliers
Planning projects; working on  new supply strategies; and preparing vehicle routes
Responsible for the profit and loss (P&L) for the Business Unit and New Projects.

Required Qualities and skills
Good communication skills. Ability to partner with and influence others without direct authority;
Ability to priorities work and meet strict deadlines
Experience of a busy, high pressure working environment is an advantage as the role demands the ability to handle multiple workloads with key task identification
Awareness of legislation, fuel costs and environmental pressures
Lead and manage staff ; Customer oriented and has a pro-active attitude
Demonstrated independent work initiative, sound judgment, diplomacy, analytical ability and professional manner
Able to make effective presentations to diverse groups
Able to perform financial calculations and create and manage budgets
Leadership Skill and a groomed candidature to head the profit centre/organization for longer period
