Job Description

Currently VAT is not levied in Kuwait. However the GCC member states are in the process of developing a broad framework for the introduction of Value Added Tax(VAT) in the region.

This person will be a part of the Tax practice and will have the opportunity to be a part of the VAT implementation in Kuwait.The role of the Consultant/ Assistant Manager, in this context, would be substantially of an advisory nature. However he would also be responsible for compliances. The candidate would be expected to provide solutions to clients covering Implementation readiness and pre-implementation review.
He would be expected to help clients-
Understand how VAT impacts their business and operational model and assess the capability of existing systems to cater for VAT
Identify a VAT implementation strategy and create a project team to manage implementation
Undertake an initial review and determine a plan / timeline for implementation
Identify contractual arrangements that need action
Identify the business transactions including intra-GCC transactions and inter company transactions
General role & responsibilities
Ensure compliance with the firms policies and guidance, and adherence to professional standards.
Work with the team and the client with highest levels of quality and professionalism in line with the assignment scope
Ensure engagements are executed in accordance with the professional methodologies, guidance and professional standards.
Review work on a timely basis and in a thorough and constructive manner.
As a Senior Consultant / Assistant Manager, the candidate would be expected to have the following academic, technical and behavioral skills:

Technical Skill Sets
Minimum 3 years of experience in Indirect Tax, especially in Value Added Tax (VAT) with a Big 4 firm.
Ability to prepare and conduct presentations to clients.
Behavioral Skill sets
Team player with the ability to resolve problems and meet deadlines.
A proven ability to handle pressure and manage conflicting demands.
Well organized and client focused.
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Ability to receive and work on constructive feedback.

Self-Starting & Dynamic Personality.
Sound communication skills in English, both written and spoken. Arabic language is an advantage

Knowledge of Kuwait and GCC market would be an advantage
