As IT honchos assess the fall-out of the bleak global economic scenario on IT hiring, HeadHonchos.com undertook a survey to gauge the situation on the ground.

The takeaway from the HeadHonchos.com IT Employers Survey: the global economic slowdown will have an inevitable but limited, impact on hiring in the Indian IT sector and the fallout will be felt largely in the short- term.

As Mr. Uday Sodhi, CEO, HeadHonchos.com expressed in response to the findings, “The hiring outlook for the IT industry is holding steady and feedback from companies indicates that they are better geared to deal with the challenges ahead. HeadHonchos has seen good traction in terms of IT jobs for mid-management & senior candidates over the last 6 months and companies on our job portal are going ahead with hiring decisions.”

For this survey, HeadHonchos.com reached out to HR Heads in leading companies in the Delhi-NCR, Mumbai & Bangalore for their views. The managers surveyed were asked to respond to a questionnaire which formed the basis for these trends. Here’s their take on this wave of economic turbulence.

  1. Our operations are focussed completely on domestic market and specific to capital markets and mutual funds. Due to the current prevailing trends, investor sentiment is low, which in turn affects the industry with shrinking assets, sharp transactions decline which has led to overall reduction in revenues.

From a hiring perspective, it will be slow at least till mid-2012 later the industry expects a turnaround. let’s wait and watch.
